Birthday

Hello, this is my final blog, I'm sincerely tired, I slept 5 hours and I had been doing multiple things all day long.

Today is the birthday to my younger sister and the belated celebration of birthday to my younger step brother; I baked forty cupcakes, two cakes, a lot of cookies and made at least one hundred of canapés.

All my family, friends of the nursery of my half-brother and my sister's boyfriend came. The children played, the adults talked, majority about their sons, my sister, well... she herself was, for my part, I was serving the food and looked after to the children.

Even if was tiring for me, I'm feeling so proud and happy, I'm happy for my little kids, okay technically, for my adolescent sister and my baby step brother, but it's the same. I got excited when my brothers opened their gifts, their smiles were wonderful, and i believe than they liked my gifts.

I think the birthdays are a great opportunity in order to share with the family and friends, and receive gifts, even if it results in a strenuous task.  In any case, I'm proud to have given my best.

My favourite subject of this semester

Economy I

I'm gladly surprised with the subject. In the beginning of the semester I thought that the Economy it was boring, because it doesn't considered the history, the social aspects and the complex psychology of the humans, it just immerse itself and in the market, but I was wrong.

In my class we realize a elucidation historic about the economic transformation and its consequences. Of course we analyze the functioning, the motivations and conformation in the economy, but always from a critic perspective.

For the moment, considering the pause in the classes for the mobilization, we have studied three units. History of the Economic Thought covering what is the economy and its functionality, the historic evolution of the economy and the transformation of the actors and institutions, the capitalism and the market and, the schools of the economic thought;  Description of the Market Economy covering methodology and theoretical assumptions, positive and normative economic, role of the economic actors, demand, offer and market balance; and the World of the Decisions and the Consumption we was covering until the moment, the theory of the consumer neoclassical, utility and marginalism.

I like me this subject because it's critic and searching the mistakes of the economy and try to explain the real transformation of itself and how we can used like a social workers.

Teresa Matus

Today, I would talk about one of the most import exponent in Social work in Chile, Teresa Matus. She is the actual director of social work in the University of Chile, and actually she refound the career joined with María Antonieta Urquieta in the year 2015 after the dictatorship in 1973.

Also she was making multiples investigation to the FONDEF (in Spanish it meaning Fondo de Fomento al Desarrollo Científico y Tecnológico) with investigations about social work contributing with the analysis and one critic perspective about the Chilean social problems.  

In the actually she still being to import for the Social work  because Teresa doing investigations, writing books and works, and In this moment, administrated the career of social work in the university of Chile.

I know her in the University, in the first moment I meet her in an elective summer course in the year 2015, a little after to know the results from the University, with the time I see her more in acts from social work, in the reunions of the career and eventually she makes me classes about Epistemology and Critical Approaches In Social Work. I think she is great ^^

Stakes

In view of the fact (free topic), welcome back at my addiction.

Today I’m going to talk about a cartoon. I’m referring at “Stakes”. Is a miniseries from Adventure Time centered in Marceline the vampire queen; count with 8 chapters of 11 minutes each one of them.

Even though the miniseries had already broadcasted in USA it still don’t emit in Latin America, but finally the 22th of May we could watch it (in Spanish). I’m so excited for this, especially for know how the production translated the song of the mother of Marceline.

The series address [SPOILER] the wish of Marceline to be an undead, red-sucker no more, with the help of Bonnibel and the science modifying the physiology of Marcy and makes her mortal, but reviving her foes.

Shows the fights of Marceline against the five vampires, the past of the half-demon girl with her mother, with Simon Petrikov (in process to being the ice king) and with the last humans and we can see the expressions of her unconscious, her  fears, her wishes and her dreams.

It’s great to see Marcy like the protagonist and I’m waiting the emission.

Finally I will to say: Everything stays but still changes (A perfect explanation about the life and the series, the best song of cartoons ever ^^)

The most beautiful suicide (photo)

Actually I don’t know a lot about photography, but I’m stay here… trying. Today I’m talking about a photo; specifically a photo took from Robert Wiles. I think the most important in a photo is what it’s provoking. I think Wiles took pictures with depth, harshness for the different contexts, introducing a social critic, blend the reality and a gloomy fantasy.

This photo shows us a suicide, but no just like a violent act, it is an expression of beauty and freedom. We see a women drive into a limousine, perfectly intact, almost like she is sleeping.

The photo was taken the first of May in the year 1947. A fortuitous fact permit to the author took the death of Evelyn McHale who jump from the Empire State building with 23 years.

I like me the photo because I think it’s pretty, the serenity in the face of the women is enormous, and let me see a social reality. The suicidal it’s taboo, for the contrary this picture doesn’t’ has prejudices, is just an instant and it can be all.

Homestuck

Homestuck it’s a webcomic created for Andrew Hussie the 13^th of April to 2009 and publish in MS Paint Adventures. This year finished with the waited for act 7 and the most epic final battle (with 5 Villains al the same time, one of them being a gang).

Count with 7955 pages, distributed in text, images, games (that you can control) and videos, and the comic is about a boy and his friend playing a game together (resulting in a destruction of the world and the creation about another dimension)

The comic it’s hilarious, and trying to get a laugh or let you so impersonated for the dramatic situation. Also, it’s an easy way to practice English, although in this moment a fan community it’s translated to the Spanish  

I’m really happy for had reading Homestuck and I recommend, but I need to advise it’s a really crazy comic, the Ulises of the comics.

My favourite technology

Hi, everyone ^^

Today I’m going to talk about the best gift I receive in my life, my wonderful Nintendo DS.  The DS it’s a videogame console made in Japan in the year 2004.

I got it since the year 2010, my ex-boyfriend gave me that precious and magical console for my birthday and I love it even now.

Are two forms of used, the most typical it’s introducing a game and move the controls for play; the other form it’s connected to internet and used the console like a computer.

In this moment, a cause of the university I can play a lot, I’m just used 1 time for month, because I need to study or make an essay, or something like that, but in the past I played with that all the weeks.

I like me the DS, because it’s permit me enjoy with every kind of games and have fun.

Well, in really I think, it my life isn’t so different without the Nintendo DS, because maybe I found another form to distract me and obtain fun.

My career

Today I'm going to talk about my choice from career, the social work.
When I was a child I have a dream job, I wished to make me in a veterinarian, but later I discovered that I couldn't support the blood. In retrospective sound like an irony.

Two years ago, when I apply for the University,  I decided for the social work in firts and second options, in the Universidad de Chile and Pontificia Universidad Católica respectively, I just added psychology in third option. I had a lot of determination in that moment and I still now.

My experience in the university it's a little solitary. I don't like me realize the majority of the activities that my classmates make them, for that I don't participated in many activities with the most of them, but I have a good relationship with all of classmates. In the academic aspect I have a good result for now, I don't have any problem in this area and I really makes me happy know it more about the social problems.

In the future, I wanna work in the municipality, in the government or something like that. I don't thinking a lot in this aspect for now.

My opinion about the immigration in Chile

This year, in summer, I was work for the University applying a questionnaire to the immigrants from Dominican Republic and I discovered a traumatic situation.

In order to establish the context in this area is necessary to remember  the situation in 1973 in Chile, the violence and the horror caused  for the dictatorship; for this political situation, a part of the chileans are take refuge in others countries, product of this, in the present, Chile it's has opened to receive immigrants from Latin America, Europe, U.S.A, etc.

In this moment the economic situation in Chile it's stable, for that, a substantial part of Latin America it's come to Chile searching a better life. In some cases, they need to traveled in plane to another country and drive or even walking for days. Just for discover the reality.

Ceirtainly, Chile has job opportunities and better salaries, but the cost of the life it's enourmous and inequalety it's  a really serious problem, without taking into account the nonexistents protection and integration laws or some kind of help for immigrants. Although the discrimination isn't the worse problem in Chile, exist racism and segregation causing feelings of isolation.

It's true that in some cases the immigrants be able to emerge and obtain a really good life, but it's really difficult, and in my seem, they are all capable and friendly and I don't wish for them that sorrow.

Possibly, in the future, we'll have more laws for the insertion to immigrants in Chile and in that moment I recommended to come, but for now I think it's better not to move here.

Hello, My name is Damaris Arrieta Ruiz. I'm 19 years old, I was born on August 29th in 1996. I stayed here, in Santiago de Chile, all my life, but not in the same district, for family reasons I needed to move out in 7 opportunities. I have 1 young sister, 1 step-sister and 1 step-brother, I live in this moment with my mother, my sister, my step-brother and my step-father, but I visited my father regularly. I don't like to talk about my personal life, but in this case is obligatory.

I studied in  Liceo N°1 Javiera Carrera, and now I'm in my second year studying Social Work in the Universidad de Chile, I really love my major, I'm so interested in the social phenomenons, I wanna know why they happen and how combated.

I really don't have any hobby actually, but I like reading, I love the books of Ken Follett (In this moment I'm reading one of his books), I like writing and painting, I have a pair of paintings about flowers, I really, really love the flowers.

I don't know what more to say, I think I'm a nice person, and if you wanna talk or maybe drink a cup of tea (The tea and the ice cream they are the best of the world) makes me so happy if I can help you.
